June 2022 - August 2022

Interior Design Intern

Ashley Furniture Industries

- Gained exposure in both residential design and commercial store planning through furniture lifestyle types and the Ashley brand.

- Assisted with a brand collaboration project by creating mood boards based on certain design trends for two different international city destinations.

- Helped designers when needed, including creating renderings for certain spaces, updating 3D models to reflect the 2D plan, and preparing plans on AutoCAD for construction designers to complete the set of store plans.

- Shadowed and sat in on many planning and review meetings with store licensee owners, gaining exposure to real world projects and the challenges that may come up with clients.​

Associate Store Planner

Slumberland Furniture Corporate Office

- Collaborating directly with store managers when creating merchandise plans to ensure plan is ideal with current sales numbers.

- Participate and oversee set-ups for new and remodeled stores pertaining to accurate construction completion and current furniture display.

- Weekly monitoring of a collaborating document utilized by store management to view design inquiries and assist when needed.

- Complete in office projects such as office furniture selections, material selections for new tenants, and space plans for events.

I am currently on the student affair committee where we plan events for students and encourage them to network and get involved with professionals in the area. Specifically, I am on the Student Outreach Board which targets spreading the IIDA organization and getting students to join/attend events throughout the school year.

Attend IIDA Northland Student Events and encourage peers to participate. Provide feedback to the board to improve said events and help bring a welcoming environment to interior design students. Some events included networking opportunities and a design charette competition.

IIDA SHIFT Conference

Associated with IIDA - Northland Chapter

A multi-day professional enrichment experience bringing together an array of top students, educators, and design industry professionals. Agenda includes project and firm tours, portfolio reviews, and mock interviews, along with a variety of networking opportunities. 

​

I was selected to receive a grant from the IIDA Northland Chapter to attend this conference along with 2 other students. 

​
